Who am I? Discovering Your Own Voice Online

For the longest time, I went from one affiliate program to the next.   I would buy one course from one of the presenters at a show, and I would by another one before the day was out, and then I would order some audios online that night in the hotel room.  There is no doubt that I was learning a lot, but unapplied knowledge is a quick way to run up your credit cards and start to feel a lot of pressure and frustration.

Finally, I took the advice of one of my favorite Internet Millionaires and picked one of the top selling products on click bank and decided to start to market it with the methods I was dying to put to use after just under 2 years researching the Internet.  I redirected one of my URL’s so potential customers would not be able to modify my affiliate links and cut me out of potential sales.  It took a little while, but after about two weeks, I was able to direct just over 2000 visitors to my affiliate link.

I am sure that most of you can see the error in my ways at this point, after spending my time and money trying to drive traffic to my affiliate site; I had nothing to show for it.  I was no further along that I had been two or three weeks prior to that point.  I do want to say though, that even if you are starting out as misguided as this effort was, it is better to start something than to not do anything at all.  You can always improve on stupid, misguided, pointless efforts, but you can’t improve on anything that you haven’t yet posted on the Internet.

Although this story is true, it was not my first attempt to try and do something.  The one thing that all of my adventure prior to this one had in common was that I ended up with a list of names of people that had at least expressed and interest in whatever it was that I was promoting.  In this case, I had nothing to show for my efforts and knew that I needed to do something to change that in a hurry.

Although I had names from other venture, I never really did anything with those names.  I might send them one email with some great insight that I had. But as far as coming up with something that I was consistently publishing to them on at least a weekly basis, I just did not feel I knew how to get that started.  One of the ways that I was driving traffic to my link was through traffic exchanges, and after seeing Stone Evan’s face and headline at least 700 maybe even 800 times, I decided to read though his sales letter.

There was one thing in his letter that I knew right away that I could use to help me build my business and that was a 400 day prewritten autoresponder, an ezine.  There were a few things about this offer that I really liked.  First, that it would be completely customizable.  Stone Evens says that this ezine has a 3% closing ratio.  Then he talked about how once you have a list, you can come up with other offers that the other 97% might be interested.  The bottom line is, if they are interested in a subscription on home business and Internet marketing, they are going to be buying courses, software, books and other products.  The bottom line is that this helped me put my focus on building my list.  Once you have a good list, you can do surveys and other things to find out what your list feels like they need, and then you can provide it.

Just a quick summery, I have just under 120 people on my list, and 9 people signed up in different affiliate programs I am promoting.  I have probably had about 500 people respond to my ads and marketing.  I have put this all together in about 4 weeks and now have it as a foundation to continue to build on.   There are still things that I did that could be done a lot better, so I can show you how to do even more.
